We enjoyed our nesting at Shorelark by the Sea! We will surely remember the views of Maddox Cove, and we had a whale of a time exploring Petty Harbour. We especially loved the lobster bisques, fish and ships. Thanks you for us feel[ing] at home in the Upper Nest. We can’t wait to fly back for a visit!

We saved the best for the last. Newfoundland was the last province to visit. Sorry it took so long! What an adventure. Shorelark was a perfect ending to our trip. Comfortable and cozy in spite of the rain.

Three nights was much too short a stay in your wonderful Shorelark by the Sea! The cottage was so well equipped and decorated so beautifully! It was such a treat to spend the end of our holiday in Newfoundland at such a “special place”. We will return home with many fond memories!

We so enjoyed our stay here–a wonderful change from some cold nights camping on our way here! This place is absolutely enchanting and we will be back sometime! Loved every minute.

We had a lovely time. Shorelark is very nicely set up and we enjoyed being so close to the excellent hiking trails and right in the heart of a beautiful harbour. Thank you for a wonderful visit!
Bob and Donna below kept a mini daily-journal of their stay…such a great idea, we had to include all of it in our Comments section!

“Enjoyed our stay.”
Guests: Bob & Donna, Waterloo, Ontario
Dates of stay: June 12–23, 2018
June 12: We arrived at Petty Harbour. It was raining and cold. Karen & David have created quite an ideal home away from home here.
June 13: Windy and cold. We ventured out to Cape Spear. Bus Tourists had to get out and go to the point. We enjoyed watching them from the car. We’ll come back, lol. Had dinner at Chafe’s restaurant in town. Food is excellent!
June 14 & 15: In St. John’s these days for our work conference.
June 16: Cape Spear again.was foggy and cold but we made it up and down and all around.
June 17: Went to St. John’s today and wandered all about the town. Enjoyed the day and sights. Went to the Fish Depot, fresh scallops and 3 days worth of cod fillets!! Great deal!!
June 18: Visited Conception Bay area. Hiked from the the Manuels River Interpretation Centre down to the bay. Excellent hike and great view of Bell Island. Drove up to the ferry crossing and watched the ships leave for the island.
June 19: Drove half the Irish Loop. Stopped in to see most of the harbours and towns.
June 20: Bay Roberts hiking day. What an excellent weather day it was. Breath taking views!!
June 21: Great weather day but windy. Tried our luck again at Cape Spear and were able to get excellent pictures this time. Off to Signal Hill!! Signal Hill is a must-to-see destination. You really won’t get St. John’s as it is hard to figure–out until you see it from the top. It’s spectacular!!
June 22: Stayed close to home today. We made our way up to the top of the hill on the opposite side of town. We accidentally found the best view of the harbour and cove all in one spot. It was sunny and beautiful at 3 pm, then fog so thick at 7 pm you could cut it with a knife!
June 23: Time to leave the Rock. Enjoyed our stay. Read Alan Doyle’s book bumper to bumper. Good book, b’y!
“Shorelark was a great base for an adventure.”
Guests: Melodie and John, Stratford, Ontario
Dates of stay: June 9-11, 2018
Wow! What a great location. We could have enjoyed the beautifully designed space, watching the boats come and go –but– there’s so much more! Hiking the East Coast Trail in the backyard! Drinks! Meals in town! Visit to Quidi Vidi! Signal Hill! Shorelark was a great base for an adventure. So comfortable, such thoughtful design.

“One of our top 3 in our world travels.”
Guests: Pete and Nancy
Dates of stay: May 17-19, 2018
Doesn’t get any better than this. A little slice of heaven on the Avalon Peninsula. One of our top 3 in our world travels. In 3 days 3 whirlwind hikes, all astounding. Make a point of seeing sunrise at Cape Spear. Hate to leave as we were having coffee out on the deck in the middle of a mild heat wave of 54 degrees (F). We usually never visit a place more than once but if we do, this would be it! I’d come back just for Chafe’s! The best!
“Perfect location for our home base…”
Guests: Billie Jo & Beth Ann, Sarnia, Ontario
Dates of stay: May 11-15, 2018
What a perfect location for our home base while we were here for five days. Karen and David are amazing hosts and provided everything we needed! Waking up every morning to look out at the beautiful harbour and ocean backdrop was pure bliss. Chafe’s Landing was our fave restaurant in the area–fish and chips are the best!
