Perfect for my extended business trip!
Guest: Mark, Ottawa, Ontario

ShoreLark by the Sea was perfect for my extended business trip to St. John’s. The Upper Nest has everything including wi-fi, and is a quick and easy commute to downtown. Coming back to Petty Harbour after work was great; rounding that last bend in the road into the snug bay and town is like coming home. Loved sitting at the kitchen table looking at the full moon over the ocean. And I slept like a baby in that wonderful bed. Looking forward to coming back to stay in the summer.
Dream home by the sea…perfectly located!

We loved our time staying at the ShoreLark by the Sea, Upper Nest. It was the ideal location to act as home base for our adventures to La Manche, Ferryland, Cape Spear, Bell Island and many other towns and hiking trails on the Avalon Peninsula. Not only did the apartment have all the amenities that we needed but it is so beautifully decorated and finished that it felt like a temporary dream home by the sea!

What a relaxing, calming, stunning place you have here. All of those small details that I know you spent sleepless nights choosing and sourcing out definitely completes the experience. Even during a night that seemed hurricane-worthy, we were so warm and relaxed in our sweet Upper Nest. Just as you’d planned, I’m sure! I know Home & Cabin readers are going to indulge in page after page of your creativity. Thank you for everything. You really are a treasure and have created just that here in Petty Harbour.

Thoroughly enjoyed all of NL, especially this lovely little cove – Petty Harbour. Wonderful accommodations – great bed – what is it? And the fish ‘n chips at the local eatery! Bob’s favourite!!!

Karen and David, Thanks so much for your hospitality and generosity; we loved everything about our stay! I am so glad that we cancelled all of our reservations at blah St. John’s hotels in order to have a nice, extended stay in quaint Petty Harbour. All the best that Newfoundland has to offer is within 20 minutes in every direction!

You have created a warm and comfortable spot at ShoreLark -love the decor and special touches! After a long day of hiking it’s nice to return to a clean, cozy spot and enjoy a drink on the deck overlooking the spectacular view – a true Newfoundland experience! Chafe’s Landing is a must to experience if you are a seafood lover!! And as always, anyone you crossed paths with was very friendly and eager for conversation. Good luck in the future with your new endeavour!

Guest: Ed & Kiyomi, New Jersey, USA
Date of Stay: August 18–Sept. 1, 2012
It was a great pleasure to stay at the Upper Nest! The place oozes coziness and it didn’t take long for us to feel at home here. The view is absolutely gorgeous and was still close enough to St. John’s that when I needed to head back to campus to take care of some pre-semester paper work it was not a hassle at all! Also the blueberries out back turned into a delicious pie! Staying here definitely made the transition from New Jersey to Newfoundland a much easier and relaxing one. It was a pleasure meeting the both of you; thank you for being so kind and welcoming! Until next time…

Beyond our Dreams…
Guest: Pinar & Urgur, Istanbul, Turkey
Date of Stay: July 17–23, 2012
Like most of the people we arrived Petty Harbour with our Newfoundland dreams. We knew that building expectations calls disappointments easily but it turned out the time we spent here was beyond our dreams. It was not only the Petty Harbour itself… It was living in ShoreLark by the sea at Petty Harbour! This is the best place to enjoy everything about Petty Harbour. If one day somebody starts to make the list of small luxurious accommodations —ShoreLark by the Sea should be in that list right at the beginning. Not only living in ShoreLark by the Sea but it was having Karen & David as two new friends which made our week so special. Actually it seems that we knew each other for a long time but just couldn’t bump each other for some reason! Finally we ended up spending the whole week here instead of few days and seriously thought of cancelling everything else to stay here little bit longer. Surely we will be coming back…
Perfect location…stunning views!

We arrived in Newfoundland to spend our first two nights at Shorelarkbythesea.com in Petty Harbour, and what a perfect location to begin our adventure! The location is ideal, with a stunning harbour view, and just a short walk to what we think is one of the best restaurants on the island! The owners have thought of everything: a fully equipped kitchen, a comfy couch for watching the flat screen TV, and one of those sensational memory foam mattresses on the bed that seems to envelop a tired body! We didn’t want to leave, and kept trying to work out the rest of our holiday to return to what we think is simply the best overnight flat around! How would I summarize it? A perfect view in an idyllic Newfoundland fishing village, very close to St Johns but none of that city feel, within walking distance to everything one needs, and owned by the most delightful and enthusiastic hosts. We cant wait to return to Newfoundland, but this time we will begin and end our trip at Shore Lark by the Sea.
